How do you try to make a difference in the lives of your patients?

Dr. Samadi-niya has made a difference in the lives of her patients by establishing stronger interprofessional working relationships between physicians and managers using the results of her national study, writing peer-review papers, and presenting at highly prestigious peer-reviewed conferences and congresses in the U.S., Canada, and Internationally.

A cultural shift has been created in Canada, U.S., and other countries toward the Dyad (Dual) Leadership of physicians and administrators. Many healthcare professionals, government of different provinces, universities, conference planners, and researchers have started paying closer attention to the improvement of physician-hospital relations in Canada and as the results improving quality of patient care and budget management.

A clinician who visits patients on a daily basis makes a difference in lives of few hundreds of patients but a physician-leader who shapes a culture and create awareness and new policies, can make a difference in the lives of all individuals living in a country or internationally.  This is the beauty of choosing healthcare management / hospital or healthcare administration as a specialty for a physician.

Many differences have been made in patients’ lives by having more physicians involved in politics and management of healthcare. Interprofessionalism of primary care providers and clinicians is as important as interprofessionalism of clinicians and managers in healthcare.  As part of her presentations she emphasized how physician-leaders can collaborate with administrators and make a difference in patients' lives every day.

She presented at National Health Leadership Conference by HealthcareCAN/CCHL (2014), Ontario Hospital Association (2014), Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centers, the American College of Healthcare Executives Congress on Healthcare Leadership (2015) and the IHF39 or the 39th World Hospital Congress by the International Hospital Federation, American College of Healthcare Executives, and the American Hospital Association (2015).
