    What made you choose a career in nursing?

    I wanted to make a difference in the world and lead a useful life of purpose.  I thought nursing would enable me to be of service and improve lives no matter where I went.  I also like variety and the nursing profession offers variety. In addition, I thought being a nurse would help me take better care of my family.

    Improving work environments; nursing retention; empowerment (of nurses and patients);quality improvement and informatics; continuity of care; childhood obestity and diabetes prevention in schools and public health; environmental food quality and health; food as medicine; complimentary and alternative medicine. 

    What motivates you at the start of each day?

    Curiosity, wonder, and purpose.

    The wind under my wings that keeps me going is a spiritual force that helps me feel connected to every human being and instills a desire to make the world a better place through caring and service. My success has also been supported by my family throughout my life, and particularly, my husband.  I have also had some wonderful mentors throughout my career and unique opportunities to grow.
