What made you choose a career in nursing?
My interest in nursing was motivated by the caring nursing who took care of me during a childhood illness and my contact with a school nurse when I was in the first grade.
Research Interests :
Adolescent heath risk behaviors, mental health and quality of life in low-income children with special health care needs, famiy strenghtening programs to promote positive youth development, racial/ethnic health disparities
What motivates you at the start of each day?
Motivation -She says a brief prayer each morning, "Thank you God for this day." When she wakes up, she is so thankful that she has the opportunity to breathe and make a difference. Her husband also motivates her through his morning talks, words of encouragement, and hugs.

Her strong faith-based family guided her to value family, spiritual-biblically based principles, education, and giving back to the community. She places a high value on education and life long learning.
