Description of Practice :
The most important focus in my therapy is to establish trust with my clients, no matter how young. Once a therapuetic relationship has been created, each facet of our work together contributes to healing and resiliency. The use of various modalities is helpful to engage clients; play therapy, art therapy, music therapy, sand tray work, and the use of healing and teaching stories are ways to support change and define feelings.
With younger clients, it is essential to involve parent figures so that a unified approach is created. WIth adolescents, expressive therapies help to open doors of feelings that may be difficult to identify. Understanding the developmental stage of the client is one of the keys to appropriate goal-setting. Additional reading and filial therapy assists parental figures in bringing about positive changes.
WIth families, each person has a perspective which should be honored. A greater understanding of their own system can illuminate understanding and increase compassionate responses. Activities aimed at allowing each person to express themselves in an assertive, non-agressive way leads the way to a healthier family system.
I am so honored that my clients have trusted me, shared their own journey, and often recommended me to their friends and relatives.
