Ruth Beckmann-Murray, APN, MSN, EdD, N-NAP, FAAN, RN, is a retired psychiatric nurse and Professor Emerita from the St. Louis University School of Nursing. In addition to her psychiatric nursing training, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, and a Doctor of Education. She is the published author of Health Promotion Strategies through the Lifespan, often used as a textbook. The book provides anyone interested in the nursing profession with a holistic approach to health promotion, from birth to death. Now in its 7th Edition, the book provides holistic health assessment for every developmental stage of life. Ellen P. Tappero, DNP, RN, NNP-BC, specializes in neonatology at Neonatology Associates Ltd. In Arizona. This is a private practice solely devoted to the care of sick newborns. Ellen is the NNP program director, overseeing the other nurses with sick neonates. She is also the author of Physical Assessment of the Newborn: A Comprehensive Approach to the Art of Physical Examination. Lois C. Crooks, RN, works for the Children's Hospital of Egypt in Cairo, dividing her time between there and Rockville, Maryland. She serves as a consultant on operating room and nursing continuing education. When the Children's Cancer Hospital opened in 2007, she became consultant to the CEO with primary focus on operating room management and continuing education. In 1978, she published a textbook, Operating Room Technique for the Surgical Team. Now in its 5th Edition, this book is considered the best paramedic textbook of all time. The book explains the role of a person suddenly thrust into the role of caregiver, due to an unforeseen circumstance. A caregiver can be of any age, race, or gender; the book explains what to do with all of the new stress put upon the sudden caregiver.
